Who are we?

Who are we?
GILU club is a leisure culture club that seeks to recover the lost meanings of leisure time meanings and to reveal them as essential components of a fulfilling modern life. We will create meaningful, nurturing, insightful and experiential time, and learn to break out of stereotypes and look at society and ourselves more consciously. The various activities of the club cover both theoretical and practical levels. We work together with the members of the community: each of them is invited to propose their own topics, to become a leader of a thematic group, to share their knowledge and experiences, and thus to create new meanings together.

Free time culture according to the philosopher A. Baumeister
The meaning of leisure today has been transformed and has lost its profound meaning. Cultivated in antiquity and the Renaissance, it was a precondition for the emergence of European culture, but today it feeds the entertainment industry rather than enriching us. The Ukrainian philosopher Andrii Baumeister and his insights into the culture of leisure have helped us to understand what has happened to leisure and its meaning, why it has changed so much in the 20th century and why it remains distorted today. One of the aims of the GILU Club is to take a fresh look at the meaning of leisure and reclaim it. Baumeister sees it as the key to a happy, successful, and rich life.
